There has been quite a bit of discussion of tongue tie lately. Earlier this
week I saw a baby that had a short frenulum and as this is the first time I
have "diagnosed" this, I did get a second opinion from a NICU nurse who
thought it was short too. Baby was able to latch and I could hear swallowing
and Mom said it didn't hurt (but she was originally seen for abraded
nipples), so I told them to mention it to the pedi, who probably wouldn't do
anything if weight gain was okay and it wasn't causing Mom any discomfort.
Does anybody think I should have recommended it be clipped, since it didn't
appear to be causing a problem? It's kind of been nagging at me.
