Strictly anecdotal, but anyone upsetting a breastfeeding mother in my family
was booted out of the room/house because it was believed that the baby
wouldn't nurse or nurse as long as needed if the mother was uncomfortable.
If all people truly believed that formula is *not* an option to fall back
on, then the kindness would be seen as necessary and not as a mere nicety.

 The researchers had people
stand by the cows while they were being milked. Half of the volunteers were
kind and gentle with their assigned cows, the others were stern and spoke to
them more harshly. The result: the cows who were treated kindly produced an
average of 10% more milk.

Maybe this would encourage hospital nurses to be a little kinder - I still
remember the one who told me I was doing everything wrong and my baby was
getting too much milk at each feeding.
