Besides what Kathy said about baby, it also depends on mom. Quick, strong
letdown, ample supply, whether she is preoccupied with something or someone
else at the moment (ie: screaming toddler, anxious, overbearing nurse). I
believe I've heard Woolrich talk about this. Plus time of day, # of days
into lactation (age of baby) and so on.

I remember one of my babies who was done in 5 min early on.
The rule is - there are no rules. Average time at breast for a newborn is
just that-average.
And we shouldn't be telling moms that the baby "didn't nurse long enough"
or "too long". We need to teach moms and nurses to look at baby. Is s/he
drunk and drugged out on that wonderful stuff, or unsettled, hunting for
more?
