Hi everyone!
Mom due April 6, baby born Jan. 23. Now weights 3 lbs. Mom has been pumping
with a hospital grade. Great supply! She pumps at 5am, 8 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5
pm, 8 pm and 1 am. Is now pumping 40-48 oz/day. She is really concerned
about losing her supply later. The LCs at the hospital have suggested that
she start phasing out the 1 am feeding by trying to do without pumping until
2 am the first night, then 3 am the second night and so on . . .Mother wants
to know what the general feeling is about this suggestion. I do to! Baby is
doing 2 sessions of KG for 1 1/2 hours (at first they would only allow 20
mnts, she convinced them for a little more time). Baby started doing
recreational feedings 2 days ago, but will not be allowed to leave until the
baby has bottle fed (3-4 weeks to go). Baby has been sucking on a nipple and
is been fed by gavage every 3 hours.
At the moment I am reading what I can on premies so that I can help this mom
when baby comes home, so any advice that you can give me would be greatly
appreciated.
See ya,
Yvonne C. Bannister
