I think it is naive to believe that the cost of an inservice, or multiple
inservices, even around the world, impact the formula pharmaceutical
industry's profits in any way.
When a company pays for donuts, inservices, skiing trips, etc, these
costs are the small price that they pay in order to gain the chance to
leach the credibility of the participants, sponsoring organization,
hospital, etc. They appear along side the medical professionals, and apppear
to be a good guy just because they stand next to them.
It is my belief that they are not impacted at all by these costs. It's a win
win for them. If it quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, and smells
like a duck, it is still a duck.
