Just an observation-when I was originally in training to be an LC, this was
the term used by my peers. I have since abandoned in my own practice and
teaching after observing some of the reaction to the word by the mothers in
my breastfeeding classes. They seemed to set back in their chairs- it seems a
bit harsh. I describe it in component parts, this also allows them to
ascertain if one component part is not happening how to correct the latch on.
I think with a little creativity we could come up with another acronym that
might do just as well. No offense intended to the originator of the RAM
technique, but more an observation. Respectfully submitted,
