I am part of a hospital based LC group. We recently "took over" the use of
an infant crib/cot and loaded it with the many and various accoutrements we
always seem to be running for. This saves us many steps, time and back
pain. When left outside the mother's room it also serves as a "LC locator"
for the staff. I think I will be adding a garden kneepad soon! I too find
myself kneeling frequently when mom is in a chair. When mom is in bed I
make use of the electric lift feature and ALWAYS lift the bed to my comfort
level (I am tall) after getting mom's permission. I also always make sure
to put it down before leaving. Our LC department just purchased footstools
for all the mother's rooms - we are saving their backs too!

When I was in private practice I developed a bad case of tennis elbow that I
tracked to my habit of swinging rental pumps past the driver's seat over to
the passenger's seat.

Take care of yourselves as well as your families and clients! Carla
