In the past 12 yrs of practice, I have helped two moms who c/o extreme
sensitivity all their lives. Both first came to me in a prenatal bf-ing
class and then became clients.
One quit after a week-the sensation of suckling the baby
was so intense she could not stand it. The other had a
true commitment and nursed for nearly a year. Oddly the
sensitivity in one nipple decreased somewhat the other
remained the same. She enjoyed her infants response and the healthy state
and satisfaction she saw in her nursling. She gradually weaned at one year,
the sensitivity persisted. She is now 12 weeks pregant with
baby #2. She describes her nipple pain as tremendous.
I have a large shell on her to protect the sensitive tissue
while she wears a bra in the daytime. I have seen no documentation in any
literature about this unusual phenomena.
