I am amused by the recent threads on LLL leaders, doctors, and car mechanics. What do we all have in common? Yep, we're all just human, doing what humans do. We have excellent LLL leaders, doctors, and car mechanics. We have not so excellent LLL leaders, doctors, and car mechanics. We have excellent LLL leaders, doctors, and car mechanics who even make mistakes(gasp!). Life is about variety, not perfection. When we know this, we realize that one person, one organization cannot give us all the answers. Even the people who are the "experts" cannot give us all the answers. Over the years I have found that the mothers who have breastfeeding problems and resolved them are the ones who had questioned me the most. Those who did not resolve their problems, seemed detached from the problem. They had no questions. They trusted someone else to resolve "their" problem. I believe this is an abdication of human responsibility and accounts for the bitterness someone may feel when the "expert" does not resolve "their" problem. Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC Who needs someone to help her figure out how to get those "equal" signs off all my posts!!! (e-mail me not to the list)
