According to the code:
7.3.  No financial or material inducements to promote products within the
scope of this Code should be offered by manufacturers or distributors to
health workers or members of their families, nor should these be accepted by
health workers or members of their families.

Therefore, if one is a health worker and accepts lunch or doughnuts or pens
or trips or inservice from an infant formula manufacturer- he/she is in
clear violation of both the letter and intent of the code.

We mustn't forget that these companies only offer these gifts because they
are effective in increasing sale of their products and because increased
sales = increased profits. These companies make money when breastfeeding
fails, therefore they have a vested financial interest in breastfeeding
failure-y are not doing these things just to be nice or out of the goodness
of their hearts!
