Exactly what is recommended in the Babywise/Prep books -- that is, you can
hold your baby off with pacifier use if it isn't time to feed them yet.  And
any extra sucking the baby needs is best met by use of the pacifer.

Obviously, not to make your babies dehydrated, and the caveat is mentioned
"always feed a hungry baby" but....
