I sent this privately to Cherie but thought I'd share when I saw more on the
subject. laurie
I didn't respond to your orig. question becoz I am reading these lactnets on
feb 20 and figured it was too late to answer.[Cindy this is one of the
reasons I don't always answer.] However I have a thought about the client w/
br. reduction surg and pain. I do believe it is a result of the surgery and
scar tissue and even could be a sort of "phantom pain" like an amputee has.
Some people benefit from antidepressant therapy in this situation, not becoz
they are depressed but becoz it helps the nerve pain. I agree as her
lactation "settled in" and initial distention etc calms down that the pain
naturally decreased. And just to share I had horrible traumatized nipples w/
my second lactation that took 6-8 weeks to really heal. Especially one side
was painful and my dtr nursed for 5+ years and it hurt the whole time -
bearable but painful on that side. ? nerve damage?
