I keep a folder full of newspaper clippings etc. and I finally got around
to rifling through the file to find this one. I was determined to find it;
knew I had cited this newspaper clipping when I wrote a formal, academic
article on breastfeeding and early discharge. I had vaguely remembered
clipping the article when I was working at Strong Hospital in Rochester, so
that gave me a time line.
OK, here goes:
"Dying for milk. Some mothers, trying in vain to breast-feed, starve their
infants." Kevin Helliker, The Wall Street Journal, July 22, 1994.
Cathy, I think this is the one you are searching for. I don't know if it's
on-line or not, but remember, these were the old days....it might not be.
Just in case every listmate is tempted to ask me for a photocopy, please
remember that although I like to help, I won't knowingly violate copyright
law, even for the sake of 'education'. (I've been pretty shocked at some
loose interpretations of 'fair use' by colleagues.) However, anyone who
wants a copy can probably find this article at the local public (or
medical) library.
