Have still been in contact with this mom - the second course of Parlodel
also stopped milk production only as long as she was taking it. Back to
overproduction despite NO pumping or breastfeeding :-(
Now MD - GYN finally saw her and is giving her an injection that will stop
all hormones for a one month period - Lupron (leuprolide acetate for depot
suspension) - as she is suffering from endometriosis. MD says this will
take care of everything...
He did say she should have taken Parlodel for 10 - 15 days, not just for 5
days at a time. In my experience, even taking it 10 days moms used to call
the hospital to ask what to do about the engorgement (bottle feeding moms
who had take Parlodel assuming this would stop them from producing milk).
Just a real breastfeeding failure/nightmare! I just wish I could have been
more helpful/useful to her.
