FYI, I considered it cause for an incident report if mom wasn't begun
pumping within 12 hours of delivery of a baby who was transferred to NICU
and not BF. I used to get a lot of flack for this. I know she is
overwhelmed and grieving, but screwing up her future milk supply for her
baby won't help the situation one bit! And actually being able to do
something (pumping, expressing and/or massaging) is theraputic. Stimulates
that flood of prolactin and calms her down.
