In the UK, diflucan is not licensed for the use of lactating mothers, and
some GPs use this as a reason not to prescribe, even though 'licensing' a
product does not ever preclude a registered medical practitioner
prescribing it in line with their clinical judgement.

In any case, diflucan *is* licensed for paediatric use in levels higher
than would be in breast milk, and once this is pointed out to GPs, some can
be persuaded to prescribe.

I regularly have to suggest to mothers they seek out a second opinion -
fortunately not too difficult to do, as most GPs these days work in
partnership with one or more colleagues.
