<Forgive my French, but Dr. Northrup is full of shit. Breast cancer is not
caused by the person who gets it, and does not have an emotional basis.>

I wouldn't say that Dr. Northrup is full of it in general, but I agree
(heartily!) with Kathy D. on this one.

I get awfully darn sick and tired of this vaguely flaky idea floating around
that we "invite" our illnesses, or that they are due to our problems
integrating our lives, or reconciling our conflicting roles, or whatever. I
understand what's behind it, and I actually think it's useful to examine
almost anything from various perspectives, but it leaves a person (almost
always the "person" is of course a woman!) stuck on a different floor of the
vast "blame the victim" warehouse. Sometimes stuff happens, and when it does
we need to put our energies into coping with and clearing out the stuff, not
putting our valuable and supremely resilient selves through the wringer
trying to figure out how we have "invited it into our lives" or "what we are
getting from our condition that makes it necessary for us to hang on to it".

Frankly, I hope your treatments (whatever the next step may be) just blasts
those nasty cells right off the map. If it takes "toxins" to do the job, by
god let them be *powerful* toxins! If prayer and good vibes will help, well,
woman, let those vibes rattle the floorboards, cause they are comin' at you!
No wimpy little tremors or whispery shivers here - *power* is what's called
for! Amen, sister!

Cathy Bargar (who neither has/had cancer nor is a listmother, but *is* named
Cathy.)
