Hi all,

Don't know if anyone else is as upset as I am that Ben & Jerry's ice cream is
thinking of selling out to Nestle!!!!  I even have a button that reads, "Body
by Ben & Jerry".....

Anyway, here's their comments website, if y'all want to add your voice (and
ice cream spoon!) to mine, as well as the letter I sent.

I read with dismay the possibility of you selling out to Nestle in the near
future.  I have always been proud of B & J's for your socially-conscious
business focus, as articulated in your mission statement: To operate the
Company in a way that actively recognizes the central role that business
plays in the structure of society by initiating innovative ways to improve
the quality of life of a broad community - local, national, and international.

Are you aware that Nestle has consistently and blatantly defied the World
Health Organization (WHO)Code restricting the marketing of breast milk
substitutes (aka "formula"), especially in third world countries, where
millions of babies die if exposed to substandard nutrition by being deprived
of their mothers' milk?  Even in America, Nestle is the only formula
manufacturer to market directly to new mothers in their Carnation ads on TV
and in magazines.

PLEASE do not "sell out" to this heinous company!! If this merger goes
through, I (and thousands of other breastfeeding supporters world wide) will
then be forced to boycott your wonderful products as well as Nestles'.
