And there was the MAIN trial, too, published five (?) years ago (I can
search out the reference if anyone emails me off list) which compared
shells, Hoffman and doing nothing, and found no difference that doing
something was better than doing nothing, in terms of length of bf
experience.

This looked at mothers with flat or inverted nipples.

NCT was involved in this multi-centred trial.

Culturally, here we prefer to do nothing about most things  unless it can
be shown that doing something makes a difference! When mothers ask me about
doing something, I tell them about the MAIN trial and leave the decision up
to them.
