Thank you to Barbara Wilson-Clay for her excellent description of
ways to get hold of interesting articles.
I would like to add that NMAA here in Australia offers an excellent
service that I find invaluable in keeping up with the latest
research. It is especially good if you don't have ready access to a
medical library. Anyone can subscribe to NMAA's Lactation Resource
Centre (LRC). Included in a subscription are:
- the journal, 'Breastfeeding Review' (now 3 issues per year) - each
issue also includes several pages of abstracts of relevant articles
from recent journals,
- quarterly accession lists of many, many articles related to
breastfeeding (citation and key words for each article) - this is how
you can find all the latest papers in many different journals.
- vouchers for free photocopying and free searches of their database,
- specially-written articles in series called 'Topics in
Breastfeeding' and 'Hot Topics'. These are review-type articles on
various topics, with the latter being short, to-the-point papers and
the former more in-depth. Again, these use and cite lots of
references relevant to us.
If anyone is interested in this service, details can be obtained
through the NMAA website http://www.nmaa.asn.au
