What recommendations, if any, would you make to a mom pumping for her
newborn preterm baby? Mom went home today where she has a 5 y/o who
nurses 1 x/day at bedtime. Should she take any special precautions to
prevent possible contamination of milk from viruses/bacteria in the 5
y/o's mouth? Mom has lots of support and will do whatever is best for
the baby.
I suggested showering after he has nursed. What about doing a "clean
catch" when pumping, i.e., discarding the first 1/4 oz of milk expressed?
TIA for your input.
