The Baby 2000 Project promises to be yet another step forward in educating
prospective parents about the values of breastfeeding. Kelly Staggs tells us
she will be stocking up on formula and diapers to be prepared for the
possibility that society will shut down on January 1, 2000. We will be
looking forward to the next article that tell us how she will feed a baby
formula in the event of there being no running water, electricity or other
fuel to sterilize bottles and prepare the formula safely.

Perhaps this family and others would like to know more about the difficulties
in providing formula for babies unfortunate enough to not be breastfed, when
Hurricane Floyd forced many families into shelters. The Red Cross should have
this sort of information. We would also like to know more about the reasons
this family is choosing to forgo the many health benefits of breastfeeding
when they are so thoughtfully preparing for other aspects of this possible
crisis.
