Beth,
I had PIH with my first. With my twins, I was very careful to consume a
great deal of protein, for obvious reasons. I usually got about 110-120
grams daily. Still, they twins were delivered at 33 weeks due to a
complication of PIH which is called HELLP syndrome. A far more serious
situation. I did a great job of taking vitamins/minerals and eating
well. Nothing seemed to make any difference. I still blew up like a
balloon. I don't know the highest readings I got, but I can remember
when I was "on the mend" it was 180/110! My normal is 110/70.

Perhaps, depending upon the reason a particular mom is at risk for
developing PIH, some moms would benefit from the extra protein, but in
my case it did not prevent it. It did, however, give me very large 33
weekers, almost 5# and almost 6#s!
