Lisa,

Wow! 150 births a month and only one LC. You need to get all those nurses
trained to handle "normal breastfeeding." We do an eight hour class for all
staff, then they spend a day with the LC. That is the bare minimum.

We also try to get some of our staff RNs IBCLC certified so they can pinch hit
when the LC is off. This is a benefit that can be offered to those who cover
weekends and nights. The hospital pays for their LC study course and the exam
and, in exchange, the RNs offer this service on the off times.
