Hi All,
To the poster who presribed a shield after the mom expressed a desire to
quit when the baby was 5 days old...I say-this was an appropriate action.
One of the things that bothers me with dispensing shields is there often is
no followup, or referral to a lactation person (at least in my facility).

To all you informed people a question...I've come across this a couple of
times recently....One of our staff members has been giving shields out
(early in the postpartum,,,like...before 24hours) and documenting 'mother
states notices flat nipple since epidural'. Anybody have info on flat
nipples from epidurals? I have had my librarian do a lit search but haven't
really gotten anything proving or disproving it....

Also, I've developed a trifold brochure about colds and flu season and
breastfeeding (Thanks to you lactnetters who gave me input many months ago).
Anyway, one of the doctors would like to include using neosynephrine for
breastfeeding moms. (also atrovent) Any info? Dr Jack? Dr Hale?

Thanks so much
Lucy
