I appreciate what people have been saying about parents feeling more
comfortable with giving babies bottles than cup-feeding or other ways of
feeding, but I wonder how much this has to do with bottles being seen as
"the norm." And I wonder if this will change over time.
My daughter, for example, who is almost 21, has never given a baby a bottle,
although she does lots of babysitting for my friends (mostly LLL people).
She's quite good at cup-feeding, though. I imagine that if she needed to
supplement her (future) baby, she'd feel much more comfortable using a cup
or other feeding method than a bottle.
