Mary-Anne:

Your sensitivity to the needs of teenagers (and I would guess most of the
people that you deal with) came across loud and clear to me when you said:

> For many women learning to eat right and feed their
>families in a nutritious way is a steep learning curve. Breastfeeding is a
>great place to start

Yes, *many women* not just teens. There are some exceedingly sharp and wise
young mothers out there, and some exceedingly selfish and closed-to-BF
older mothers out there, too.

> I know lots of teen moms that eat
>very well and lots of older moms that don't, so we need to be aware of our use
>of language and of avoiding generalizations.

The attitudes that many have toward teens is actually just another example
of prejudice - generalizations about a group of people that, in this
particular case, share the common characteristic of simply being young
('stead of being chinese or black or native american or rich or fat (like
me) or middle class or unschooled or whatever)...... and (back to the
teens)therefore, inexperienced.
