I sometimes ask a class, when talking about this situation, if they can
think about other situations when they are asked, or ask, for food or drink
or a cuddle outside 'normal' times - do they say ' no, I just gave you a
hug 20 minutes ago' or 'it's not time for your cuddle yet' or 'no you can't
have a glass of water - I don't care if it's hot and you've been working
outside - wait for another 2 hours' etc etc.
Quite apart from the physiology of the whole thing, it is quite
preposterous to expect babies to have love, contact and comfort 'rationed'
according to some disciplinary time table.
Do the Ezzos, for example, only eat or drink (or cuddle) once every 3-4 hours?
