What I've actually seen is that by second or third baby moms are more
relaxed about letting baby share family bed, and there is plenty of
night-time nursing. Other reasons for increased night-time nursing
include that mom is more distracted (as is baby) by the older siblings
during days, so there is more night-time nursing if that baby has
unrestricted access at night. The night-time nursing seems to be a
really important key factor.

Many moms don't realize that by not having baby with them in bed that
they are actually restricting access at night-time. Baby settles into
sounder sleep, goes longer periods at night, and everyone is happy, or
they are supposed to feel that way if you listen to the PC talk around
them.

Just MNSHO,
Melinda Hoskins, MS, RN who had exactly 17 months of lactational
amenorrhea with all three daughters, then two months of sputsy periods,
one "real one" and another pregnancy twice so that the 3 DD's are each
exactly 29 months apart.
