I appreciate your response. You are so right, what will make the biggest
difference is updating the policies and that is step 1 of BFHI. We have a
mtg date to begin this process, which will be SLOW and PAINFUL I am sure. We
have our cert. of intent, you see. Step 2 is educate/train all staff and
that has been done piecemeal, the problem being it is not mandatory so
nobody shows up. Our mgr has said it would be made mandatory, but she did
not keep her promise. The care plan thing was my idea for sort of a quick
fix interim measure and yes, I am well aware, unfortunately, that the paper
may just be clipped behind everything else and never looked at again. But it
MIGHT make it harder for staff to ignore appropriate bf care, and MAY get
them familiarized w/ the 10 steps. What do others think? If anyone in the
greater New Orleans area wants to hire me into a more enlightened
environment, I am surely ready to go. Give me a holler. I'm serious.
