Magda - your pleas for mothers of older kids who need an excuse not to
bother with housework struck a chord in me - and this is what I came up
with.


So your kids are older
They've grown up so fast
It's time to start cleaning and scrubbing - at last!

But who gives a damn that the picture rail's dusty
And that yukky stuff under the fridge still smells musty?

That socks are in holes (and never in pairs)
And you can't see the carpet for animal hairs?

Your teens still need meals round the clock,  and your time,
Who cares about housework and keeping down grime?

They need you as chauffeur
To drive them round town
And to yell at them daily
'Just keep that noise down!'

And to find missing sports kit - and with your 'mum power'
To wash, dry and iron it, in under an hour

The phone rings?  You call 'It's for you!' - that's your task
Only 10 times a day - it's not much to ask!

Your ears have to listen to struggle and strife,
'Mum, he dumped me! I love him! He's ruined my life!'

'My homework's too hard!' and 'we lost 10-nil! '
And  'Mum, er... what age can I start on the Pill?'

You listen, you worry, you wash and you feed
Tho' the need may be different, it '*is*  still a need.

You're 'super-teen mum'  - you can't do any more!
surely NO ONE EXPECTS YOU TO POLISH THE FLOOR!
