Dear Lana,
I explain to moms that nipple shields are usually a temporary tool;
some use them for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months. If the baby
is gaining and mom is comfortable with it......no problem! At least the
baby is at the breast! Not at arm's reach.
I know of an LC who was giving a mom a somewhat hard time about
getting off the shield, (for no good reason I could see), the mom avoided
her.
