Three cheers for breastfeeding in the comics! I myself have gotten really
hooked on "For Better or Worse", which parallels the life stages of my own
children (except that I don't have a young one); when I read about Liz's
adventures off at university, it sometimes makes me cry, thinking of my
daughter off at college. Anyway, when the friend of the main family had her
first baby a few years ago, she was breastfeeding. And although she was
shown once saying, "I'm trying to breastfeed, and it's so hard!", I was glad
to see it there at all. And that statement was made within the context of a
very realistic and affectionate portrayal of new-mom struggles and
tiredness, not focusing on BFing as this big ordeal, but as part of a life
experience that isn't always what you expect it to be. Good stuff!
