"They also stated that babies will vomit the first dose of nystatin. Why
would that be? It isn't being ingested, only swabbed on the inner surfaces
of
the mouth, gums and tongue. Anyone heard about this?"
Interesting timing on this posting, Barb! Just yesterday I got a call from a
drs.' office (yes! a triumph right there!) wanting info about gentian violet
tx. for thrush, as they had a woman nsg. twins whose babies had vomited from
the nystatin. Sounded like it was more than just the 1st dose, but didn't
ask specifically because I hadn't yet had your posting on this.
I cheerfully gave them the info - and oh-so-politely didn't point out to
them that only two months ago our BF coalition had mailed them a packet of
info on thrush, which included the info they were asking for. But I think
I'll call them back today to "verify" that they rec'd that info & ask if
they need it again!
