About 10 + years ago my car was stolen.  Later that day I got a call from
an attendant at one of those roadside rest areas.  My pump had been
carefully set on the ground beside a large trash barrel.  The attendant
recognized the value and called my # (on the pump case).  Of course someone
went and picked it right up and I gave the attendant a reward. All the
other odds and ends in my car were thrown away at some point, never to  be
found (tapes etc.).  The stupid kid who stole my car was eventually caught
in MS and went to jail because he had turned 18 the mo before he stole it!
But I did appreciate that he had enough sense not to  throw the pump into
