In Jelliffe and Jelliffe's wonderful pamphlet called "The Uniqueness of
Human Milk" (it's a reprint from Volume 24 of The American Journal of
Clinical Nutrition; August 1971) Niles Newton has an article. She states:
"Even in the United States between 1911 and 1916 studies of 22,000 city
babies indicated 58% were breast fed in the 12th month of life."
