I do believe that almost all health care professionals want the best for
their patients. People have different skills, different interests,and
different personal slants/issues when it comes to breastfeeding. I think
that our own personal feelings/issues/experiences about breastfeeding color
the ways in which we practice.
It is not useful or correct to tar an entire profession (* any profession,
IBCLCs, MDs, etc*) with one stick. Ever. When folks do get into that sort
of generalizing, they are doing so out of extreme frustration and some
defensiveness. I try to avoid it.
Nancy, you certainly are a shining example to us. I can think of a few
places you might want to visit for a while, ...lending your significant
expertise.
