I am forwarding this letter with permission to ask if anyone can offer some
advice that this person can give to her sister.

<<Hey Guys, I joined this list due to my sister expecting another baby.
She was still nursing her toddler and was told that she had to quit for the
new baby. I found out that was not the case and she continued to nurse him.
Well, she has since had the new baby, and is in a huge pickle. The baby (a
girl) was born on the 28th of July and was not due until the 13th of Nov. She
weighed 1lb 11 ounces at birth and now weighs 1 lb 6 1/2 ounces. I am happy
to say she is doing very well and is stable. Now for the pickle, she wants to
nurse, when she is given the okay by doctors, but can't seem to keep her milk
supply up.
She is using an Even Flo double sided electric breast pump, and did well with
it the first night, getting two bottles full, but now she is barely getting
two ounces between both breast. She has been drinking a lot of water and
other fluids, but mostly water and has been trying to eat as much a possible.
She tries to pump at least every four hours, but the result is always the
same. I don't know if this will make a difference or not, but she did have a
C-section and is on pain pills for that. ( percocet) and also has an
antibiotic for a UTI.
I could really use some advice for her, she is really stressed out
about this, and at this point I don't think she needs any added stress.>>

I asked if she wouldn't mind me forwarding this letter to here to ask you
wonderfully helpful people for any advice and I got this back.

<<I should have included this in my letter. No, she is no longer nursing her
toddler, she was in the hospital for a week. She has talked to the lactation
consultant in All Children's and the baby is getting the normal protein and
fat, and has just started as of tonight getting 1cc of formula every six
hours to get her body ready for breast milk if possible. I would love for you
to forward my post, I will take all the advice I can get!>>

Thanks
Gitte
