Thought I'd like to get your comments on this one.
Primip, 2 weeks pp presented to MCH with small lump in breast - she was
given appropriate advice to clear a suspected blocked duct. Couple of days
later still there and getting bigger - referred to GP (MD). Treated with
Amoxil - ugggh! She was entirely asymptomatic (other than palpable lump) -
no change so referred to surgeon who drained about 30ml pus, (so she was
told). Treatment continued with Amoxil - I was contacted the following
week when she'd developed mastitis in the other breast!
My question is have any of you seen abscesses develop in this manner. There
was no pain, erythema or heat associated with it. I questioned the mother
further to see if it was a galactocoele, she checked with the surgeon who
said it was pus and grew staph.
I'll be interested to hear your experiences.
