Today I contacted our local branch of our county library today to inquire
about a display of books being featured for World Breastfeeding Week in
August. This library also has a locked display case, so I asked if small art
collection (mine) could be displayed in tandem with the books. I said I had
several statues, postcards, and prints depicting nursing mothers. The
librarian's response "Oooooh, this is a pretty conservative area." My
response to that in my mind was "HUH???" but I said that my collection could
be reviewed ahead of time if her superiors needed to see it for themselves.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out as the weeks roll on, I
wonder if they'll want to censor the word Breast!
Lisa Jones, in the capacity of member of Palm Beach County Breastfeeding
Taskforce, Wellington Florida, USA - btw, my collection will be at the LLLICf
this coming weekend.
