Congratulations Kathy on your fellowship. I just came back from a baby shower
today and just had to vent to people I know  would be sympathetic. My dear
friend is pregnant with her first and has a jealous and insecure sister (mom
of two) who can't seem to but out of my friend's life. With every gift there
was a negative comment from her. When she opened my gift , the boppy pillow
and a sling, she said " Just wait your back will kill you and your are only
just beginning " I looked at my friend and replied, "not if you use proper
body mechanics". Then she received an entire linen set for the crib and I
cupped my hands and said " as the only hippy, liberal here I have to say
Family Bed" and my friend laughed because we have discussed this at length.
The sister said, " How many kids do you have? " in a derogatory way and I
replied, " None yet but when I do I am sure they will be the most content
children at the party , after having their security/nurturance needs met". I
just felt like tying a scarf around her mouth to silence her negative remarks
on such a happy day. No, by the way, neither of them were breastfed.....The
sister told me family bed would not have been an option because she was so
hyperaware of her babes prescence that she would not have been able to sleep
if they had been in the same bed. What do fellow lactnetters with the family
bed experience think of this comment ? Lisa
