I share to observation that the postings about R. Ferber and his sleep
ideas have not been, shall we say, in a happy tone.
I started reading his book the other day. If I'm going to disagree with him
I should know what he says.
(Jim McKenna thinks I'm quite the scholar for doing this)
I read what he said in "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems" about
co-sleeping. I understand how it could be offensive to most on this list.
To make the claims he does about it being detrimental to the child and not
give support of references for his ideas is, to me, ethnocentric and
irresponsible. I have no desire to read the rest of his book.
I may try to contact him and ask for a reference.
