I don't know if this information is useful to any Lactnetters at all, but I
got this off another list. People have questioned whether or not Karo syrup
falls into the same category as honey wrt giving to babies. I didn't know
the definitive answer on this (though I suspected it was OK), so thought
there might be another one or two out there that didn't know either.
<< From Nelson's textbook of Pediatrics, 15th ed., 1996, p. 814:
"Corn syrups were once thought to be a possible source of botulinum spores,
but recent evidence indicates otherwise."
>From the 1997 Red Book chapter on Infant Botulism, p. 175: "Light and dark
corn syrups are not potential sources." >>
