"real formula" at about 4 to 6 months.  Ads even said things like "is your
baby sitting up? Ready for solids?".  They were cheaper than "real formula"
and that was another selling point.  Are these things still made?  I don't
see much advertising for them any more.<

Perhaps this is because the US doesn't have a national law which limits
advertising of formula to the public in the same way as some other countries.
Here in the UK, where advertising formula intended for babies under 6 months of
age is ILLEGAL, there are plenty of fierce adverts for follow-on milks --
because, aside from advertising the *product*, they advertise the *brand name*.
