hi all, most   all commercial weightloss products herbal or not contain some
ephedra (ma huang).  Most sinus preparations also contain pseudo-
ephedrine,which is a synthtic form of ephedra; these are both not very good
for the nursing infant. Like other preparations it can cause crankiness,
jitters, tachycardia  and irritibility in both baby and mother.  Some have
very minute doses in the package which might be ok; watch the baby for
symptoms as well as mom.  Specific herbs may dry milk supply in that
preparation. It is best to have the specifics as to the herbs- i do not have
a bottle of the stuff to look at.
Look into what is pressuring this mom to wean or lose weight.  how about
working with her on a specific diet and exercise program- just for her- to
lose weight carefully and keep it off.  So many want a pill to cure our ills
, but never mind the changes in lifestyle to assist in changing the problem
permanantly. (Not to be said of everyone; I do realize some need extra help
and that is ok.)
