<< I think, and this is totally unscientific, that the jarred food & the
act of feeding the child by the parent make the child turn off to the
"real" taste and experience of eating. I often wonder if, as we
stuffed our older daughter full of yucky Gerber crap, we were creating
this problem-- and I think the answer is yes.

My experience is just the opposite. My older daughter, 28 years old, was
breastfed for only about 3 months, got cereal from the time she was a month
old and was brought up on baby foods. My youngest daughter, 13 years old, was
bf for 13 months, had her first solid at 6 months, never had babyfood, and
today she is the picky, junk food eater. My oldest would come home from high
school and make herself a salad, she was always and still is a very healthy
eater. My youngest loves sweets, pasta, and tries to avoid vegetables, loves
fast food (which I avoid like the plague). Go figure!
