I've searched the archives and only came across notes about mothers who
found fenugreek hard to stomach. My sister (an LLL Leader) is counseling a
mom who reports that her baby started vomiting about a day? after she first
took fenugreek and blessed thistle. Mom stopped nursing baby, giving him
pumped stored frozen week-old milk and the formula she got at the hospital
:-P and baby has not vomited since. My sister suspects it's a coincidence
- that baby just had a tummy bug (although he's only 3-1/2 weeks old).
Mom was taking galactogogues to make it easier to pump since she's
returning to work next week - she didn't have a supply problem.
Is there evidence for the possibility that fenugreek and/or blessed thistle
could cause GI upset in the baby? Do we know if it goes through mom's milk
or in what quantity?
Thanks everyone -
