I don't think it is purely a sucking problem. Granted, the suck is weak and
clicks, but there are other confounders like difficult to wake and long
periods of sleep. I know the baby has been worked up extensively but maybe
this is an obscure metabolic disorder or genetic syndrome or neuro
abnormality. Has a peds endocrinologist and/or peds geneticist seen this
family. Could this be autism? I admit I am not very familiar with autism,
esp as it manifests in infancy, but could this be a possibility if
physiologically everything seems normal. Best wishes to this baby and
family.
