The Chairperson of the Dept of OB/Gyn at the Med School and I had a meeting
today. Nothing important, just an exchange of FYI. ( Much to my
disappointment there is still no plans for any lactation program other then
what they have and the intent to to apply for Baby Friendly--still no need
for my services). He told me that legislation had been introduced in NC to
require IBCLC's to be licensed by the state. Does anyone know anything about
this? Is any other states requiring state licensure? What is required? Does
ILCA have a position on this? Will this take the place of the IBCLC exam? How
much does this cost? Anyone gone through this?
I wish that ILCA had more information on their Website to help keep IBCLC's
current, especially those of us practicing out in the "boondocks".
