Valerie, the reason I use a pain scale is so I can better evaluate the
effectiveness of my interventions. If before treatment mom rates her
pain level at 5, and a few days later rates it a 3, then I know that the
treatment is effective and can make any adjustments accordingly.
It's just a tool to help us evaluate, not a system to "judge" another
persons pain.
